The Truth about Sports Recruiting in 2025

Sports Recruiting in 2025 has become a crazy subject. As a coach and running my 15+ year recruiting business/consulting agency, www.totalsportsrecruiting.com I speak to hundreds of player prospects, coaches and parents weekly. The one word that is used by all of them is confusing. That's what that Wild West approach has brought us to navigate. As a business and coach I have successfully gotten kids the opportunities and placed them in Major D1 D2 D3 NAIA USCAA and JUCO programs across the country. While many of you may know some who have gone on to play professionally and major D1 a lot of you have not really heard of those that have successfully gone onto the lower level schools, had great careers and now have transferred into the everyday workforce to become successful in their life's work and family life.

Let's just put it out there. In this day of transfers and the portal being involved and basically unregulated it has made the recruiting process hard to navigate. Rules change on almost a weekly or monthly basis. Parents, God Bless You. I know you think you have the bases covered and can navigate and guide your way through the process, but so many people get it wrong. Look at all the transfers and kids who commit, then de-commit. This tells you there is a lot that is going wrong when going through this process. The start of this week I have had so many phone calls from friends and referrals who are talking to me about this very thing. The one thing I always pride myself, my business and coaching career is is that the kids I worked with found the "Right Fit" schools and programs and through all this mess my kids had picked the right place to attend school and play. Very few of my kids transfer. Is this a lot of work ? Yes it is, but if you are going to do something, do it right.

If you are a 2026-2029 athlete who is looking to play sports in college. I encourage you to reach out to me by email, tom@totalsportsrecruiting.com or by phone, 412-508-9351.

Let us in on your battle and fight for your family and player.
